I was given the responsibility for Berlins' competition entry to design the dome housing the event - carried out in Autumn 2010 - Dortmund was the other competing city in the bid to host the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. System 180 GmbH had to provide a design for a large temporary dome to be erected in front of Tempelhof Airport in Berlin. It had to be quick to take apart and removed for storage after use.
I was charged with the design of the support structure of the dome and to make technical feasibility tests, along with static calculations and costing estimates.
The dome had a diameter of 132 meters, was 26 meters in height and weighed 280 tons. Eventually the contest organisers chose Dortmund to stage the event so the dome I designed was unfortunately never built.

Berlin war Ende 2010 in Wettbewerb mit Dortmund um den European Song Contest zu veranstalten. Die Firma System180 sollte dafür einen grossen Dom vor dem Flughafen Tempelhof bauen (und nachher abbauen). Ich war damit beauftragt die Struktur des Doms zu entwerfen und die technische Machbarkeit zu überprüfen, Statische Vorberechnungen zu machen und Daten zu sammeln für ein Kostenschätzung.
Der Dom hatte einen Durchmesser von ca. 132 m, war 26 Meter hoch und wog 280 Tonnen.
Die Veranstaltung lief 2011 in Dortmund und so ist der Dom nicht gebaut worden.
